Dawson Days – Full of Doom and Gloom
Now if you’re a Dawson or are related to one by marriage…or you just know one well, you understand that thinking the worst, being devil’s advocate, and down right pecimisim is the moto. This doesn’t make the Dawson clan a difficult bunch to be around it’s actually quite entertaining, it just means that while you’re celebrating Dawson Days, it’s imperative that if you’re an optimist, you must stand your ground and be the balancing ray of sunshine.
Mom and Dad Dawson really know how to entertain - and in the spirit of Dawsonian Doom and Gloom, the weather cooperated with full-on rain showers all day long! A great time was had by all despite the weather. By the end of the weekend when all the disucssions surrounding politics, war, the oil cricis and all out natural disasters was over, the sun did come out!
It was such a beautiful evening that I had Jim snap some 34 week pics of me. As you can see, I have not stopped growing! I had a Dr’s apt yesterday – still having consistent contractions and am now measuring 2 weeks ahead of the schedule. Like duh! I’ve been thinking that for a while now.
Dr will be doing an ultrasound in a few weeks to check the size of the baby and his positioning. Has of now he is head down and ready to go. All bets are on for when I will really deliver – the popular vote is for at least 2-3 weeks early. If that’s the case, I am in big trouble! Especially since we have nothing done! No name, no nursery, and I still have an entire quarter’s worth of work at the office I need to wrap up.
I will start working from home the week of August 13th. It was going to be the 20th, but given the chance of going into labor in rush hour traffic on 405, doc and I decided it’s probably best not to even take the risk.
Jim is following all the father-to-be guidelines in making sure we’re prepared for “Labor Day”. He has packed our bags for the hospital, including necessary toiletries. I think we’re pretty well organized for the big event, it’s bringing him home that we’re not quite prepared for. It won’t be until after a few baby showers where we’ll feel ready for Baby D’s arrival home.
Jim is also enjoying the mockery of my large belly. Always pointing out my spills and often times contributing to them. It’s amazing how much we naturally drool and drip things and they fall straight to the floor – with a belly like this, it can’t help but be a catch-all.
