Yakima or bust!
After Jim fell in love with Denise’s pickled asparagus last year, we just had to adopt the Cadwallader tradition of venturing east to Yakima in search of the freshest cut “grass” (as the locals would call it).
On Saturday we headed to the valley with Denise and Brett. Upon Grandma Cadwallader’s recomendation, we landed at Fruit City where they took excellent care of us and gladly sold us each 60 lbs of Asparagus!
The asparagus was so crisp and fresh – and like Grandma says, the fruit doesn’t wait for you, you have to go to it. You gotta get the asparagus in the middle of May when it’s the good kind that really makes yer pee stink.
We had a lovely Mother’s Day at Dawsonshire. Me and Jim cooked our mom’s a special brunch. It was fun to spend time with them.
And, strangely enough, I received a few gifts myself. It’s so exciting to think that next year I’ll be officially celebrated on Mother’s day.
Thanks so much to all of you who sent me “mother-to-be” cards! That was so thoughtful and such a lovely surprise.
After the mom’s day festivities, me and Jim were both so pooped! But we worked so well together in the kitchen with our assembly line that we were incredibly productive. Jim even pickled a few dozen eggs. (They look Scary but are quite tasty)
Um…picture redirect problem. The eggs are a little creepy looking.
Wife got a little crazy with the HREF’s, and the QA dept had the day off.
